My Philosophy

I believe that learning and performing music can be a fun and joyful experience, and that people of all ages and backgrounds can gain confidence, and experience success as they explore their creativity through music.

My Mission

To promote a love of music and music-making by providing a positive and engaging environment in which all students can grow and develop their musical abilities.

My studio is equipped with two pianos, rhythm instruments, a white board, technology, and many other teaching resources.

I customize each student’s lesson according to their interest, level and needs, and strive to make learning the fundamentals of music fun and engaging

In addition to helping my students become proficient in rhythm, piano technique, ear-training, and sight-reading skills, we also have fun improvising and learning to play piano by ear.

I’m able to make learning fun by incorporating innovative and creative teaching strategies.

I believe that learning and performing music can be a FUN, JOYFUL and a LIFE-LONG endeavor and my mission is to not only provide a positive and engaging environment that encourages my students to grow and develop their musical abilities, but to instill confidence and a love for music and music-making! My students have enjoyed the freedom to create, the opportunity to have input on the music they are learning, and the fun activities that introduce and reinforce musical concepts.

Janna Haack

Janna Haack holds a Bachelor’s of Music Education (BME) from Northern State University in Aberdeen, SD where she studied K-12 Choral/General Music Education and piano performance. She also completed a Master’s Degree in Music Education and Music Therapy from the University of Kansas in Lawrence. While in graduate school, Janna received extensive training in using music therapy with special needs children. She earned money for school by playing piano professionally in restaurants and delivering singing telegrams in costume! Following graduation, Janna taught elementary music education in Texas, Minnesota, and Nebraska for 7 years while her husband completed his education in Orthodontics.

Janna has 4 years of private teaching experience in piano, guitar, and preschool music and 17 years experience in worship ministry. After moving to Rice Lake in 2001, Janna served as a volunteer worship leader (i.e. planning weekend services, organizing and leading the worship band, and vocally facilitating congregational worship from the piano) at Maranatha Evangelical Free Church before becoming the church’s first Worship Arts Director as the membership doubled in size. Currently, she loves playing keyboard in the worship band, along with her husband and son, at Red Cedar Church in Rice Lake. Janna accompanies many students for district and state Solo & Ensemble competitions, and occasionally plays for musicals, weddings, and funerals.
